Druid - Restoration
Purpose
A restoration druid is a healer who uses healing over time spells supplemented with direct heals.
Talents
The basic resto build starts with
14/0/51∞. The points in Traquil Spirit can go elsewhere thats just my preference.
Dropping points in
Nature's Grace∞ is also an option if you don't use nourish often.
Last Points
- Naturalist∞ Usefull for raid healing with Glyphed HT∞, other than that it skip it.
- Empowered Touch∞ Used in the build above, also a decent boost to NS+HT; not worth taking for most builds.
- 5/5 Tranquil Spirit∞ Used in the build above, also usefull for a heavy tank healing build∞
- Living Seed∞ Solid option; if you don't find yourself using nourish or tank healing often you may want to skip it.
- Revitalize∞ Good choice; depending on the encounter it can be 20-50 mp5∞ for yourself and more for the healers with larger mana pools (of course this is dependant on how much you heal them). It also translates directly into dps for rogues, warriors, ferals, and deathknights. Some numbers∞ on the rDPS benefit.
- Celestial Focus∞ If you are not at the haste soft-cap∞ with your normal raid setup, take this. It requires you spend 1 additional point in balance (brambles is the most common choice) but reaching the soft-cap is worth it.
- Improved Tranquility∞ Pretty much useless outside of 5 mans, and early 10 mans; I wouldn't recomend taking this.
- Natural Perfection∞ PvP talent; moderately usefull in Ulduar, but generaly not worth the points.
- Improved Barkskin∞ PvP talent; don't raid with it.
Ability Rotation
Normaly I start: Rejuv, Regrowth, nourish/swiftmend if it's not going to be overheal, if the existing hots (not other healers spam healing) are not keeping the tank stable I add lifebloom. How you use lifebloom is up to you; I prefer to put them up individualy let it tick and refresh just before the bloom then let it fall at 3 and start over. It's still viable to roll on a single tank, and the nourish buffs give you the option to use single lifeblooms as "nourish fodder."
For raid healing it's just rejuv spam with wg if a cluster takes some burst, and swiftmend/nourish/glyphed ht if you someone needs to a quick top off. While you are doing this keep at least rejuv and regrowth on the tank as a buffer maybe a lifebloom if you see his hp droping alot.
Key Cooldowns
- Swiftmend∞ - 15 second cooldown - This spell consumes a hot and heals the target instantly. Glyph: Does not consume the HoT, but still heals normally.
- Wild Growth∞ - 6 second cooldown - A HoT that affects up to four additional targets near the primary target. Glyph: Can affect 1 additional target.
- Nature's Swiftness∞ - 3 minute cooldown - Makes the next nature spell with a casting time of less than 10 seconds instant. Used with Healing Touch∞ as a panic button.
- Tranquility∞ - 10 minute cooldown (Talent: 4 minutes) - A channeled AoE heal that works on the druid's party only. Rarely usefull outside of 5 mans.
- Innervate∞ - 6 minute cooldown - 16k mana regened over 20 seconds to any mana using friendly target. Glyph: 90% of the druids base mana (about 3k) to the caster.
Stats (In Order of Importance)
- Spellpower: Increases the potency of your heals
- Haste until soft-cap∞: reduces global cooldown and cast time of you're spells
- Spirit/Int/mp5: About equal in value since the spirit nerf with mp5 coming in a little behind.
- Crit/Haste: Increases throughput but not optimal choices.
- Stam: Just be aware that you need it.
Restoration Glyphs
- Healing Touch∞ - The reason Glyphed HT raid healing builds work; other than that it's replaced by nourish at 80.
- Innervate∞ - 3k extra mana, don't take it unless you normaly give your innervate to someone else and you are having mana issues.
- Lifebloom∞ - Not worth taking anymore unless you still prefer to roll lifebloom on your tank; even then probably not the best choice.
- Regrowth∞ - Useless; nourish is the goto direct heal.
- Rebirth∞ - Usefull in Ulduar where there is alot of raid wide burst that can kill the rezzed target before he can get healed; for an endgame raid healing build definately something to think about.
- Rejuvenation∞ - Also a decent pick for an endgame raid build, but other than that there are few situations people drop below 50% for more than a couple seconds.
- Swiftmend∞ - Great for tank healing; for raid healing it's not as usefull but nice to have.
- Wild growth∞ - The only glyph I consider a must have. Obvious value raid healing, and casting it on the tank can provide some extra nourish fodder and top off the melee.
- Nourish∞ - Usefull for tank healing, especialy if you have the t7 4pc set bonus. Good glyph if you use nourish.
