Warrior - Fury

Updated for 3.3

Purpose

The purpose of a fury warrior is to supply dps and to provide raid buffs/debuffs in the form of shouts.

Abbreviations

Talents

A degree of flexibility can be applied to fury talent builds as long as these important talents are included :-
Fury tree: Armored to the Teeth, Cruelty, Dual Wield Specialization, Precision, Death Wish, Flurry, Intensify Rage, Bloodthirst, Improved Whirlwind, Improved Berserker Stance, Rampage, Bloodsurge, Unending Fury, Titans Grip.
Arms Tree: Improved Heroic Strike, Impale, Deep Wounds, Two Handed Weapon Specialization

Standard Build, 19/52/0 - A typical fury warrior build.
Rage-Friendly Build 18/53/0 - This build specs into Unbridled Wrath as well as Improved Berserker Rage. Suitable for a low geared warrior.

Ability Rotation

There is no real rotation, but a priority list: Bloodthirst > Whirlwind > Slam (When Bloodsurge procs)
Keep both Bloodthirst and Whirlwind on cool down all the time. When Bloodsurge procs, use Slam.
If you have excess rage (50+ Rage) use Heroic Strike (or Cleave if there are multiple mobs).

Key Cooldowns

  1. Death Wish - Pop this with heroism and trinkets if possible but always keep it on cool down.
  2. Recklessness - This requires Berserker Stance and is now on a 5 minute cool down. Since it gives 100% crit chance to all abilities, using it to keep up a rolling Deep Wounds stack on a movement fight is useful. Remember, you can use Heroic Throw while moving for no rage and get a free crit using recklessness. On non-movement fights my rotation is usually WW > Recklessness > BT > Slam > BT > Slam > WW.
  3. Commanding Shout or Battle Shout as well as Demoralizing Shout - Keep your shouts up at all time to maximize your effectiveness.

Stats (In Order of Importance)

People disagree on what the most important stats are for a fury warrior. It is generally accepted that you should reach the soft cap for warriors then focus on strength and critical strike rating.

  1. Hit Rating - Until you reach the soft cap of 8%. With 3/3 talent points in Precision, 164 hit rating is required.
  2. Expertise - 214 Expertise rating equates to the 26 Expertise needed to reach the cap for raid bosses.
  3. Strength - Strength is the meat and potatoes of a fury warrior.
  4. Armor Penetration.
  5. Critical Strike rating - Rampage, Bloodsurge, Deep Wounds, and Flurry are all procced by critical strikes.
  6. Agility.
  7. Hit Rating - More hit rating will improve rage generation. Do not attempt to reach the hard cap.
